Celebration GIVEAWAY: Making Herbs SIMPLE DVD (Vol. 1)

Posted on 14:52 by Unknown

Well! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and is looking forward to a great New Year!

Now, I was planning to post the 3rd Celebration Giveaway this past Sunday or yesterday, but we got knocked down to 24 hour dial-up after using up our limit with all the skyping we did with the grandparents  ;o)

BUT... better late then never!

So, the giveaway...

To FIVE winners, I am giving away 1 copy of Making Herbs SIMPLE DVD!

I really enjoyed this video and like how simply Shoshanna taught, step-by-step, on how to find, wash, dry and store herbs. She also teaches the hands-on steps of making poultices, tinctures and more!

When I first started watching the DVD... my 5 year old daughter, Naomi, came over and watched it with me and enjoyed it so much that she wanted to watch it again! Like the title says... it is so simple that my daughter is able to understand and thoroughly enjoy how God made all these amazing herbs (that are often considered weeds) to bring healing to our bodies. She even talked to me afterwards and pretty much explained what each herb is, the benefits and how to use them. I LOVED that! The video didn't have closed caption, so it was great to hear Naomi sum it all up like a pro and made sure that I understood what Shoshanna was saying! LOL!

So, if you are looking for a good instructional video on herbs for your child's homeschooling program or just to teach them in your own time... this is the one for you! Funny, captivating and simple... your kids will enjoy learning how to find and using herbs to improve their health!

Now, I have to talk about Bulk Herb Store.

I love their products, the prices and quality!

I made my own pregnancy tea using their herbs and the taste was delicious. I'll have to share with you my recipe... soon I hope!

Since we don't drink coffee in this family... we like to drink a lot of tea around here! I am a die-hard fan of Rooibos Tea and I like it just the way it is... no raw honey! I've learned to appreciate its earthy, rustic flavors. Of course, there are some days where I just need a little sweetness to my tea  ;o)

You can see that I have banners on my blog supporting BHS. If you are considering making some purchases... please use my links. I will get a small commission for each purchase and it is no extra cost to you! Thank you for your support!

Now, let's get to the giveaway... shall we?

A Beautiful Christmas Song: Labor of Love

Posted on 13:32 by Unknown

This is my all time favorite Christmas song. It never fails to bring tears to my eyes and goose bumps through my whole body! We enjoy Andrew Peterson very much and have almost all of his CDs. I can totally understand this song as I am a mother of two girls and experienced this "labor of love". This song played through my head while I was in labor with Tabitha... love Jill's voice for this song.

Grocery Store Wars

Posted on 12:19 by Unknown
A good friend emailed this to me (Thanks, Becca!). Star Wars was created during my hubby's generation, so of course he loved it.

This is a great video of organic foods battling against the dark side, conventional foods, in a grocery store setting. Very creative and funny, but also very real and scary as we are battling against the big guys of Monsanto, Syngena, DuPont, Misui, Aventis, and Dow for our organic food today. We need to be watchful, wise and careful as these guys are always trying to find ways to kill the organic movement that is making a HUGE comeback. If Monsanto and the other guys have it their way... EVERYTHING would be GMO, sprayed, radiated, gassed, cloned, pumped with hormones and antibiotics. Read about the HR-875 that is being pushed by Monsanto that will make natural seeds, organic food and farmer's markets illegal, no joke.

Here's a information flyer: Defeat HR-875 Please read it carefully as it contains a lot of information that Monsanto doesn't want you to know about.

If you are thinking, "So what's the big deal?"... Read this.

Food, Inc.

Posted on 13:43 by Unknown
Everybody NEEDS to see this movie!!

What Can YOU do About All of This?

Knowledge truly is power, so please share this article and “Food, Inc.” with everyone you know. The more people become informed, the faster it will prompt real change to come about. Several other food-related movies that I also highly recommend you watch and share with your friends and family are:

• The Future of Food
• Super Size Me
• Fast Food Nation (Note from Mare: I have not seen it and heard that it is not worth it)
• The World According To Monsanto
• Cornography

On a practical level, short of starting your own sustainable farm (which you can do on a small-scale in your own backyard), you can also help by steering clear of foods that come from giant corporations, and instead supporting sustainable agriculture movements in your area.

Make it a point to only buy food from a source you know and trust. This will do your health a major favor and support the small family farms in your area. You’ll receive nutritious food from a source that you can trust, and you’ll be supporting the honest work of a real family farm instead of an agri-business corporation. (copied from Mercola.com)

Read reviews on the "Food, Inc." movie at Robert Kenner Films.  Here's one from Entertainment Weekly in the sound bite box.
